The staff are always polite and since using the Avonmeads cinema now for over 5 years I've never had cause to complain
Reasonably priced entrance fee especially if you have a showcase cinema card with discounts snacks are available coffee isn't too expensive all and all a great experience from showcase cinemas
Showcase Reading
Showcase Reading - I bought tickets for the wrong cinema I am in Glasgow. I was told I could get a refund but had to phone reading and speak to a manager I phoned and left a message. I emailed and told them I couldn’t get through. I was then told I could only get a refund on that day. I have been phoning for three days. They keep telling me there putting me through then hang up. They have my booking reference and could easily have refunded me. I paid £31 for reading then had to pay for Glasgow for the same film in the same day. Showcase is almost double price of the vue but I loved the showcase we go to. They have had a fortune from me. If I don’t get any joy I will never be back and will complain to the financial ombudsman

Showcase Southampton
Showcase Southampton - really poor service when trying to understand gallery on their website due to assuming people know their cinemas. Due to the poor description I ordered wrong tickets and was trying to sort them out. Manager Alex came to see us but rather than having empathy and sorting out our tickets so we could upgrade, his rudeness and the way he dealt with us just poured fuel onto the situation. We ended up leaving as he’d upset us so much we didn’t want to see a film I’d been looking forward to seeing. I am autistic and normally I don’t have any issue but then I’m normally spoken to in a respectful manner by people trying to help rather than having a “computer says No” attitude. @Showcase, please help those that haven’t been before understand the difference with gallery seating and the gallery package at showcase website, unlike other cinemas, if a time says gallery, it doesn’t mean it’s all gallery just a small area in certain screens and you still have to pick a gallery price and If you are going to have managers deal with many different people, please ensure they know how to speak to people in a manner that doesn’t cause upset. There are ways to agree and disagree with people but you should also be trying to help find a solution. Still out of pocket for a film I’ve not seen due to their manager’s attitude. I will go to another brand of cinema in future where they try to help, have autistic friendly screenings and are easier to buy tickets from.

We have been going to bluewater cinema…
We have been going to bluewater cinema for a few years now. It is always comfortable and spacious and they keep high standards. However we went to studio 2 to see Downton Abbey today and the film was ruined by a constant banging door. After the film we went to see what door and it was a stockroom door that needed another quiet closed fitted to it. We mentioned this to a staff member but he really wasn't bothered. Shame because the majority of their staff actually do care!!
Website offers 3D glasses after…
Website offers 3D glasses after purchasing tickets. You would presume this is for a 3D screening. We arrived went to the ticket box to be told I get tickets elsewhere with a finger point and vague direction. Try to get tickets from the food section (like you can / do at competitors) nope…. Thankfully get clear instructions this time that the gates will scan us in.
Arrive at gates BEEP. Screen 6 ….. I ask “where do I collect the glasses?”
“Oh no this is 2D the website allows you to buy glasses on any film, head to the kiosk they will refund you” Of course the queue is huge we have food snd drink and the films about to start…. I retort “not overly impressed I’ll sort this afterwards”
So as we leave quite late I imagined most customers would forget… I managed to find out the kiosks were closed and that I could “come back tomorrow” FOR £1.50 A PAIR!!!
it would cost more in fuel
In this day and age I know how easy it is to have 3D glasses only offered for 3D films on a website. This whole system is clearly just to squeeze more money out of customers. Yes your screens are lovely but at £12 a seat when competitors charge £5 this additional £1.50 clearly designed to confuse and be so nominal we all just roll over…. SHAME

Showcase VS VUE the battle of Price
Firstly I love the cinema and its magic but. (Southampton) This cinema does everything that is great and rubbish about cinemas at the same time. for this film I got the gallery tickets. The seats are fun but not very comfy for sitting more than 2 hours. The little tray of snacks you get, OMG love them. The fact your not sat next to random people and have space is awesome. But the price tag for two people is about £35.40!! This is without the extra price of a drink, snacks, parking and petrol. Meaning I can easily spend around £45/£50 to see a film, or get general seats and save £10. But at this point is there much point. The fact that VUE is doing £5 tickets makes the drive no problem. I had to work this out and I spent just shy of £28 on tickets, drinks, snacks and petrol. So my point is I now only go to showcase for epic mega films, and anything else (which is most) VUE it is. I know showcase is more fancy, better equipped etc. But some times I wish they had cheeper tickets.
Rant over and the snack boxes you get are fantastic.
Helpful, but took a while to answer
Phoned to have them change over some tickets for me. The guy that answered the phone was helpful and polite, no problems getting it sorted. Assuming they were understaffed however as it took a while for the phone to get answered and I could hear a line ringing in the background the duration of the call.

Showcase Liverpool, Cinema of choice
Showcase Liverpool is our cinema of choice. Prices are a little cheaper than the alternatives and seating is excellent.
I had recent cause to make a complaint, it was dealt with quickly and to my satisfaction.
Making fun of keyworkers
I will never forget the discount of 5 pence for keyworkers. It's every business' choice whether to offer a discount and I am not desperate for a discount on a £20 bill, but there is something particularly insulting in the offer, which I never knew.
Booked and then I thought... "Let me check how much I saved going through this loooong process to get a unknown discount" and I found out the shocking truth that I wasted my time like a fool.
Insulted and fooled is definitely not any good start of my customer experience with this brand and I will try to avoid like the plague.
I might publish screenshots of the discount-booking process and the 5-pence discount in the end, so people don't experience my frustration and hopefully avoid the place in general in respect to those who worked hard for others to be safe and enjoy life.

Poor and misleading website
Poor and misleading website, no refunds either. I went on their website to book tickets for west Side Story for the New Year and Mother in Laws belated birthday.
Obviously made an error as the website made me think I had booked my tickets in Nottingham but after the fact realised I had booked them for Showcase London????? due to unforeseen circumstances and after talking to an advisor when I went to cancel did not offer any kind of refund apart from a rigmarole of chasing a refund from one cinema to another….. seriously not happy..£31.50 down the drain due to franchise philosophy…..
Disappointing experience
Showcase Reading
Nachos salty, cheese cold and grainy. Use to be hot and smooth. Sound in the screen wasn't the best. Customer service mediocre

Worst experience ever!
Went to this dudley showcase cinema xmas eve 24/12/2021 for 6.30pm to watch spiderman first time as we usualy go to starcity. Will happily say that i will never be going to this cinema ever again. Went to watch spiderman so pre-booked tickets as everywhere else seats were getting booked so booked locally. I walked in and thankfully wasnt that busy. I went over to the food bar were ther was no queu asked the gentleman to which I later saw on his name tag was Steve (manager) if he was serving to which he replied yes. I was about to begin my order when he turned around and said someone else is before me. I couldn't see anyone and he called over a white gentleman from another que. There was around 3 ques. I politely told him that I'm in this que and that man is in another que why shud he be served b4 me to which he replied he is b4 me. I questioned ye but his in another que. As I glanced up I saw the security guard come closer ( iwasnt shouting but being very polite) the security guard just stared at me like his never seen an asian girl before and as if I was about to rob something from a candy shop. I wasnt happy at all as I felt quite intimidated and felt it was bad customer service. The girl who served me was lovely. I was pretty annoyed and actually first time kinda felt it was racism. So after my film finished we was about to leave. I stood at the entrance with my kids and the security guard came up to me in my face like he had some kind of power and said go get out. I was so angry. There was 2 white gentleman standing and he didnt even say anything.i requested he give us couple of mins as it was pouring outside. He shouted quick get out now I dnt care if it's raining I want to go home it xmas tomo.i again politely said I understand of course u want to go home just give us couple of mins as there are still alot of ppl around and we will leave my son has gone toilet. He said I dnt care get out wait in the rain.i said so y are u not telling other ppl who are standing around is it bcus I'm asian? He said dn play that card with me just get out. I said no I'm waiting for my son whose gone toilet his only 13 dnt feel comfortable leaving him inside alone. He said what ur sons 13 and u want to hold his hand in a very rude and intimidating way. At this point I became very annoyed. I said well his my son his 13 and if I want to hold his hand and protect him wats ur problem. At no point did he tell anyone else to go. I mean the other white people standing around. I them said ur actually being RACIST! He was very rude and then started accusing me that I wanted to sneak ppl into the cinema I said are you being serious why the hell would anyone want to enter a cinema closing. I them asked him his name to which he refused! I have never been so angry. My son came so then I decided to go out which he slammed the door and said good riddance. The other 2 white gentlemen came out and approached me and said we apologise for that racist behaviour we are not all the same. Sorry that you had to put up with that as we have been standing inside for ages and he didnt once tell us to leave but only you because your asian. I thanked him for his kind words but was left very very angry. As I was standing outside I still saw alot of white people inside and he didnt go up to any of them aggressively the way he came up to me in face. If they even bother viewing CCTV they will clearly see with the body language how I was treated with my children. I will never be going back to that cinema EVER AGAIN.i felt very very angry after I left. What was supposed to be a pre xmas treat for my children ended up in a big disappointment that I had to come home and write this review.

Poor service, poor cinema
Poor service, nobody in tills, self service. Snacks easy overpriced ticket cost way overpriced, cinema looks about forty years old, not a patch on what vue can offer for half the price, I'm surprised they are still in business
